I’m forever meaning to share some seasonal notes from The Three Doves, and hope to start this autumn after the rush of the school holidays and once the veg plot begins to slow.
A collection of recent discoveries - books or quotes, recipes and thoughts from the plot, local happenings and the quiet changes that form our seasons here. The river and tides will probably always feature one way or another, because she’s our (paradoxical) ever-changing constant.
I hope it will also become a way of marking some of the wonderful folk whose paths often cross ours during their stays. One of the unexpected joys of hosting have been our guest conversations and observations. Guests like Grace, who posted her first snail mail here and filled early spring with her infectious joy, or Jack, whose silhouette we’d spot many an evening crossing the meadow with his metal detector in search of fragments from the past. These small but meaningful encounters shape our seasons as much as the light and weather.
